Trends are fun. Fall trends are even better. But let’s be honest, we’ve all had that year we spent a little too much on a little too trendy pieces and the next year came around to the fall wardrobe thinking that nothing was cool anymore. Right? Right.
So instead of sharing all the trendiest pieces for fall, I’m giving you some fall staples that will take you throughout the season and many years to come. Get your PSL’s ready.
COZY NEUTRAL SWEATER
It’s a standard, it never gets old, you can wear it so many ways and it’s easy as pie to throw on. Layer it, wear it over a maxi dress, with leggings, jeans. I mean really, all the ways.
BOOTS/BOOTIES
There is something about a bootie that makes me feel instantly chicer and put together. I honestly wait for the season just to get to wear them again, and I have a few pairs that have now lasted me for years because they are truly just a fall wardrobe staple if you do them right. While I haven’t taken the plunge into the OTK (over-the-knee) boot, I’m definitely into it and think it will stick around for a while so it’s worth doing. And the one I’m linking is NOT the $900 Stuart Weitzman one, those are fabulous but not in this new mom’s budget. I’d say you need a black and a tan bootie and you are set for years and 8656486356 outfits (approximate). And I swapped in a few statement ones in case you’re feeling frisky.
SOMETHING PLAID
If you don’t wear plaid during fall, is it even really FALL?! You don’t have to be a scarecrow to get this one right, choose a shirt, scarf, a dress, skirt…. and pair it with solids to let it stand out.
(FAUX) LEATHER
With my new pursuit of more responsible living and shopping, I’ve ditched buying any real leather and instead love a good faux piece. I FINALLY indulged in the perfect faux leather legging and let me tell you, this mama who can not yet fit back into her pre-pregnancy jeans feels all types of sucked-in in these bad boys. Word is they hold up well, and anything that is a legging is money well spent to me.
OXBLOOD ANYTHING
This deep, rich, red SCREAMS fall to me, and transitions so well into winter that you can’t go wrong. Whether your wearing it on your lips, a bag, or clothes I think this color is a huge fall staple that can do no wrong.

JESS
