I cannot believe we are already at one year in our house since completing the Phase 1 renovation (though don’t be fooled, we moved back in and still had people coming to the house nearly daily until Christmas). It feels like the year went so fast, having a baby will certainly do that, and there’s still so many things to settle in all of the rooms that I’m pretty sure it will be years until I get them as I want them (but as Chris Loves Julia says, dont wait to enjoy your house). We aren’t waiting, we’ve been enjoying this house since we moved back into it and there are still plenty of moments when I stop, think about how the house was when we bought it, and feel immensely grateful for how wonderful it is now. Despite the current state of our floors (more to come on that) and the fact that all the rooms still have work to be done (styling mostly), I LOVE my house.
But where did this all start? Mood boards. Basically your Pinterest home boards curated to actually create a cohesive look at what your vision of your house is. I’ve been creating more and more as I’m taking on new projects so I thought I’d start sharing some of them with you all so you can go along on the process with me of making these visions reality.
I created the mood board for my own renovation project about a year and a half ago it’s interesting to look back on it and see how the actual house ended up compared to it, and what changed as I actually got into the process. Having a mood board was really impactful for me throughout the process because I was able to ensure that my vision had a cohesive look overall and make decisions that stayed true to that vision when there are SO many to make and you can often get distracted by the wealth of BEAUTIFUL things that can be done in a home along the way. The mood board in a sense served as a North Star to keep me on track through the process and though some of the end results were slightly different, I think I still see a lot of what guided me throughout the process in my home now. Do you agree?
Now I think it’s time I did a post for the before of the house so you can see where we started from, right?

JESS
