A few Valentine’s Days ago, I decided to surprise my then boyfriend, now husband, with an early morning partner workout session as a way to kick off a romantic Valentine’s Day. One of the cutest trainers I know, Julie Booher, showed up to kick our butts with an adorable Valentine’s Day sign, a heart balloon, and a partner workout that was the perfect mix of make you want to puke hard and also a little bit of romance (yes – somehow that’s a thing). Ever since, I’ve loved the occasional partner workout.
Though my husband and I don’t always go to the gym together as our schedules sometimes don’t allow us to, sometimes when we do, I plan a little partner workout for us and it’s a fun little challenge for both of us that involves a good workout, good bonding time, and a little romance. Trying to get your significant other on the health train with you? This fun workout is a good start.
Yes we fell while trying out a workout. But we’re laughing because partner workouts are fun and yes you might not do it perfectly but it’s quality time with your beau doing something different and exercise makes endorphins=happiness so all the good things people.
PARTNER WORKOUT
CIRCUIT 1
10x Push Up Claps
10x Burpee Jump + Planks (one partner planks the whole time while the other jumps over them then does a burpee)
10x Wall Sits with Medicine Ball Pass
CIRCUIT 2
25x Sit Up Claps
15x Wheel Barrow Walks (each)
20x Leg Throws
CIRCUIT 3
20x Squat Arm Rotations
20x Alternating Leg Circles
10x Push Up vs. Squat (one person holds the others feet and squats while the other does the push up)
Do each circuit 3-5 times through before moving on to the next.
Oh and yes, we have the same shoes and it’s embarrassing and we wear them out in public WAY more often than we should.
Let it be known I had them FIRST.
XO,
JESS
